CRK TRAINING STABLE
Monthly Horsemanship Lesson Policy
Monthly lesson clients will be assigned a lesson day(s) and time(s) each week. A minimum commitment of one lesson per week is required. A liability release, horsemanship policy and lesson sign-up form must be completed, signed and payment made before the start of lessons. Lessons are not transferable. A valid credit card must be on file for all monthly lesson students.
“Groom and Ride”- 60 minute Private, Semi-private and all Junior Rider lessons- on CRK Stable horses will start at the assigned time, with tack up and grooming time included in the lesson. Group lesson students must allow 20 minutes before and after the lesson to prepare and care for school horses. This time is not attended by an instructor. Students must have instructor permission to ride in group lessons. (See group lesson policy).
Private “Ride Only” 30 minute lessons– The horse will be groomed and saddled prior to the students arrival. Once the student has arrived, staff will bridle the horse and student will proceed with their lesson. Student will be required to lead horses to the arena and back to the grooming area during their lesson time.
Appropriate Barn Attire
Proper attire is required for safety and so the instructor can properly evaluate the rider. Proper attire is:
- Close-fitting long pants- (regular waist jeans, breeches or jodhpurs)
- Riding boots with at least a 3/4 inch heel separate from the sole; a tucked-in
- Fitted, sleeved shirt and approved riding helmet.
- NO- Tennis shoes, hiking boots, thick-soled boots such as “fat baby” boots, fashion boots, boots with an inside zipper or ornamentation, sandals, shorts, tank tops, capri pants, baggy clothes or bike helmets allowed.
Boots are available to borrow without cost for the first 4 lessons. After the first 4 lessons, students must purchase their own boots. Helmets are available at no cost. Students without proper attire may be denied a lesson without a refund or make-up lesson. Closed shoes must be worn in the barn area at all time. Persons wearing clogs, sandals or any other open-type footwear may not enter the barn area, including parents and guests.
Payments
- Monthly lessons are billed by the calendar month, not by the lesson. Once a month is billed, you are committed to taking the lessons. No refunds for any reason.
- All payments must be received by the last day of the month prior to the month you are paying for. (Example: Fees for July must be paid by June 30.) Invoices will be e-mailed in advance to allow for accurate, prompt payments.
- If full payment is not received by the last day of the month, the credit card on file will be charged the amount due plus an additional $20.00 convenience fee.
- Payments may be mailed or put in the mailbox on the back of the office.
- Check payments: Make checks payable to CRK Training Stable. Put the students name on the memo line if different from the name on the check.
- Cash payments: Place cash payments in an envelope with the parents/students name on it.
- Credit card payments: Credit card payments must be made in person during office hours. Credit cards will not be accepted via email or over the phone. The office is closed on Thursdays and Sundays so please plan accordingly.
Returned Checks
Upon receipt of a check returned unpaid from the bank, CRK Training Stable will notify the client. Returned checks will not be re-deposited. All lessons will be discontinued until the returned check is replaced with cash + a $50.00 returned check charge + late fees. Lessons missed will not be made up. Upon receipt of a second returned check, the account will be cash only. Unpaid checks are given to the Orange County District Attorney’s office for collection.
Lesson Cancelation, No-show/Late Arrival and Vacation Policy
NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS WILL BE GIVEN FOR LESSONS CANCELED BY CLIENTS.
Canceling & Rescheduling Lessons–
If you need to cancel a scheduled lesson, notice must be given at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the start time of the lesson to reschedule it, regardless of the reason. Cancelation messages may be written notes, messages on the office answering machine, or email. Text messages are not acceptable. You must contact us to reschedule. One make-up lesson allowed per calendar month. One reschedule is allowed per lesson. Canceled make-up lessons are forfeited. The make-up lesson must be scheduled within the same calendar month as the canceled lesson. Lessons may not be rolled over into a new month. We will attempt to reschedule lessons, but do not promise that make-ups can be accommodated.
No-Shows & Late Arrivals–
No-shows will be charged as if the lesson was given. A No-Show is considered to be: A student who does not attend a scheduled lesson within 15 minutes of the start time, without proper cancellation notice being given. Students who arrive late may be denied a lesson or offered a non-riding lesson.
Vacation Credit-
Students who have been in the CRK monthly horsemanship program for more than six (6) continuous months, may use four (4) weeks of vacation credit annually. Lesson times will be held during vacation breaks. All vacation requests must be made by email or in writing at least 30 days in advance of the vacation for proper billing. Late requests, if allowed, will incur a $25.00 rebilling fee.
Terminating Your Monthly Lesson Program
ONLY WRITTEN NOTICE WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Termination notices must be in writing and received no later than the 15th day of the month prior to the month your are terminating (example- June 15 for July termination). Termination notice’s received after the 15th of the month will not be accepted and must be resubmitted. Verbal, email, phone or text messages are not acceptable. Lesson termination forms are available in the office or you may prepare you own. The written notice must include the following information:
- Current Date
- Name of parent and student
- Day and time of the current lesson
- Day and date of last lesson
- Wording to the effect of- “I, (name of rider or parent), request to terminate our monthly horsemanship program with CRK Training Stable effective (last lesson date). Please remove (student’s name) from the lesson schedule and discontinue all future lessons. I understand that the current lesson time is being relinquished as of the termination date and will no longer be available should we decide to return.
- Signature of Student or Parent.
Pay-Per Ride Horsemanship Lesson Policy
All Pay-Per-Ride clients will select an available lesson day/time no more than seven days in advance. A minimum of one lesson per week is recommended. Pay-per-ride lessons are scheduled “as available”. A liability release, horsemanship policy and lesson sign-up form must be completed and signed before the start of lessons. A valid credit card must be on file for all lesson students.
“Groom and Ride”- Private 60 minute, Semi-private 60 minute, and Junior Rider lessons on CRK Training Stable horses will start at the assigned time, with tack up and grooming time included in your lesson.
“Ride Only”- Private 30 minute lessons will start with the horse already groomed and saddled by CRK Staff. At the start time of the lesson, instructor will bridle the horse and student will lead the horse to the arena. Students will return the horse to the grooming area at the conclusion of the ride time, usually 5 minutes before the end of the lesson.

Payments
Payments are due before each lesson begins.
- Check payments: Make checks payable to CRK Training Stable. Write the students name on the memo line if the students name is different than the name on the check.
- Cash payments: Place cash payments in an envelope with the rider’s name written on the outside.
- Credit card payments: Credit card payments must be made in person. $35.00 minimum. The office is closed on Thursdays and Sundays. Please plan accordingly.
- It is the policy of CRK Training Stable to apply late fees to all past due payments. Accounts not paid within 60 days will be turned over to a collection agency and/or litigated.
- Returned Checks- Upon receipt of a check returned unpaid from the bank, CRK Training Stable will notify the appropriate party. Returned checks will not be re-deposited. All lessons will be discontinued until the returned check is replaced with cash plus a $50.00 returned check charge and any late fees that may apply. Upon receipt of a check returned unpaid from the bank for the second time, the account will be cash only. Unpaid checks will be turned over to the Orange County District Attorney.

Canceling Lessons–
Pay-Per-Ride students may cancel a scheduled lesson up to 60 minutes prior to the start time of the lesson with no fee or penalty. Cancelation messages may be written notes, messages on the office answering machine or email. Text messages to will not be considered proper notice. Less than 60 minutes notice will result in being charged a fee equal to one-half the normal lesson fee. Fees not paid within 30 days will be charged to the credit card on file plus a $20.00 office fee.

Inclement Weather Policy
CRK Training Stable will not call you regarding weather conditions. You must call to notify the Stable of your choice to reschedule or not.
If weather is an issue, call 714-693-4886 after 8:00 A.M. for a message. Weather issues are- Rain within the past 5 days, Heat (over 100°), or Strong winds. If safe riding isn’t possible, the message will offer a choice between-
- A non-riding lesson during the regularly scheduled lesson time.
- Rescheduling the lesson to another day.
To choose a non-riding lesson, leave a message on the answering machine or send an email. Messages/email must be sent at least one hour before the start time of the lesson, the earlier the better. The lesson will run as scheduled, non-riding. If we don’t hear from you, the lesson will run as scheduled, non-riding.
To reschedule- leave a message or send an email requesting to reschedule your lesson. Messages/email must be sent at least one hour before the start time of the lesson, the earlier the better. If we don’t hear from you, the lesson will run as scheduled, non-riding.
