Horses4Heroes, Inc. is the leading family horseback riding program that enriches lives and empowers our youth by offering affordable, able-bodied horseback riding programs that emphasize fun and safe activities with horses, mounted and un-mounted for all ages. Participants learn valuable leadership and teamwork skills, make new friends, and develop a lifelong love of horses! Our organization serves all servicemen and women, First Responders and other heroes in communities across the country. CRK Training Stable is proud to be a program member and will offer great deals to H4H members on riding & camps.

This event is free! However; it you are able we will ask for a tax deductible donation.
You Can Help! We are looking for anyone who is interested in helping our cause. If you can donate an item for our Silent Auction please call Cheryl and let her know. Any item of any value is appreciated, but gift cards sell best. All donations are tax deductable.
Volunteers are also needed to help out before, during and after our Open House. If you are available for a few hours, please let Cheryl know ASAP. Helpers will receive a free lunch and a T-Shirt.

Chamber Of Commerce Mixer~
CRK Training Stable will host a Chamber of Commerce Mixer on Thursday May 16 from 5:00-8:00 pm. This event is open to Chamber members, CRK Clients and the general public. During this event we will have great food, a short talk by Cheryl & Steve, some crafts and loads of fun! So come out and enjoy an evening at the ranch! And the best part is it’s completely FREE!

No Lesson Days~
Cheryl & Steve will be on vacation during the week of May 7-12, 2012. Also, Cheryl will be working the Home Schooling Expo in Long Beach on May 25 & 26. All lessons will be cancelled during this time and your account will be adjusted to reflect this change. If you would like to reschedule your lesson, please call Cheryl ASAP, before all the lesson times are taken. We are thankful that we have a great ranch manager in Chris who will take excellent care of everthing while we are gone. Thank you for your understanding.

Clinic With Christy~
CRK Training Stable announces a riding clinic with Christy Landwehr! Certified Horsemanship Association’s CEO, Master Instructor, Clinic Director, AQHA Professional Horseman and all around great teacher! Bring your horse and learn with us! Thursday, May 24, 2012 Lessons will be: 10:30, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm 60 min. Private- $65.00 60 min. 2 or more riders – $55.00 per rider. School horses are available for current CRK Students. We Need Your Help~
Helpers are needed for our upcoming Summer Camp. We need teachers for crafts, animal science and ranch life. We also need 1 counselors for each group of 6 kids. Counselors must be 16 years old and should have horse experience and be able to help groom, saddle and unsaddle horses each day. Teachers may be 14 or older. High School age helpers will receive Community Service hours for their time. You must be available both weeks from 7:30- 12:30 Monday – Friday.

The second show was rained out but we are looking forward to the next one.
The next show is the 5/6/12 YLCR Show. This is always a fun circuit and so close to home it’s hard to pass up! Be sure to let Cheryl know if you want to compete at this show. And be sure to reserve your trailer space as well.

Answers to April Trivia Challenge~
Shows & Showing- These are all classes in a horse show. Do you know how they are judged and the difference between them?
1. What is a halter class? An In Hand class judged on the conformation of the horse.
2. What is a showmanship class? An In Hand class judged on the way the handler shows the horse.
3. What is a Pleasure class? A mounted class judged on the horses movement and training.
4. What is an Equitation class? A mounted class judged on the riders position and control.
5. What is a Trail class? A Western class judged on how the horse maneuvers over and through obstacles.
6. What is a Hunter class? An English class where the horse is shown over 8 or more jumps. It is judged on the horse.
7. What is a Hunter Hack class? An English class where the horse is shown over 2 jumps and on the flat. It is judged on the horse.
8. What is a Jumper class? An English class where the horse is shown over 8 or more jumps. It is judged on jumping faults and time.
9. What is an Obedience class? An English or Western class where the horse is judged on how well they complete the requested tasks such as side-pass, back, counter-canter, etc.
10. What is a Horsemanship class? A western class where the rider is judged while working a pattern.
