Certified Horsemanship Association News ~
Region 10 Conference-
All CHA certified riding instructors are required to participate in continuing education in order to keep their certification current. To help out, every region has an educational conference. The Region 10 conference is a one day event with speakers, demonstrations and riding lessons. This year’s conference will be held at The Riding Academy in Menifee. Lessons will be offered in gymkhana, Patterns, Teaching and General riding. Lectures will be offered by many different speakers. You may ride in any of the offered classes on school horses provided by the facility.
The conference is open to the public. The conference is scheduled for Sunday, August 26, 2012. 9:00-4:30. For more information go to – http://crktrainingstable.com/horseback-riding-programs/cha-conference-2012/
International Conference-
The CHA International conference will be held in Silverton, Oregon, just one hour outside of Portland, on October 11-14, 2012. Just like the regional conference, many speakers and other classes will be available for the attendees to participate in. Cheryl will be speaking and teaching during this conference, so lessons will be cancelled during this time. This event is open to the public and meals are included. For more information please go to-http://cha-ahse.org/store/pages/47/International_Conference.html

Fall Class Info~
Summer is nearing an end and we must always be looking to the future. September always brings lots of changes including sending the kids back to school. Changes around the barn will include new group lessons beginning and old ones dropping away. Possible changes could include a new level #1 group. This group will be for those students who are ready to move into a group lesson, but haven’t passed the level one test yet. Riders will groom and saddle within the 1 hour lesson, not before or after it as most group lesson riders do. This group will be limited to 3 riders. Level #1 group would be held on Saturdays at 9:00 am. If you are interested in joining this group, contact Cheryl to see if you are eligible. Look in next month’s newsletter for more schedule changes and additions.
If you have a class or group type you would like to ride in, please let Cheryl know. We will do our best to make it happen. Also, if you have any ideas for a class you would like Cheryl to present, please include that information as well.
Thank You!

Maddie-
It is with great sadness that I must report that our dear friend and beloved paper carrying mascot, Maddie, passed away on July 16, 2012. She was having trouble walking that evening and a visit to the vet confirmed our worst suspicions. Maddie was in heart failure and would not survive the night. She left this world and crossed the rainbow bridge while surrounded by her human family.
Maddie was born on Valentine’s Day 1999. She came to live with us when she was exactly 1 year old. Maddie very quickly learned to retrieve the paper each morning and considered it her mission in life. Every morning when she went out to take care of business, she would return with the paper tightly clenched in her teeth, looking for her treat. She even brought it in on the last day of her life. She was a great friend to all who met her and will be greatly missed. “Don’t cry because it’s over. Rejoice because it happened!”
